Survey:
- I'd like to survey a very wide genre of people (different ages, social status, ethnicity etc) and ask for their general impression of dams, their basic knowledge of them, and whether they would be for or against one. I would like to see how the differences in people influences their answer, or not.
Interview:
- Ideally I would like to interview someone who has been affected by the construction of a dam, either by displacement for building, or by a flood caused by the dam. This will require some leg work, but I think will be worth the effort.
Museum:
- I would like to visit a museum that is dedicated to the knowledge of dams, or maybe a virtual visitor center if I can not physically go to a museum/visitor center that is close enough.

Kelly,
ReplyDelete(I already tried posting my comment once and was having trouble, so if you get two from me that is why!) I really like your idea of the interview! I think it will provide really good insight that a normal book or website would not be able to. Maybe start searching on the web to see if you can track down possible people that way and narrow it down there? Good luck, I hope it works!

There are so many dams that are located in Colorado already that have affected many people. Although some may not be recent. A good example is the Dillon Reservoir (http://www.denverwater.org/Recreation/). They were all manmade and some inundated entire towns causing relocation. Denver Water definitely might be able to point you in the right direction.
